Saturday!

got up all sandy-eyed (awesome sleep) at around 8, and was trying to figure out how to reinstall my microsoft office 2008 for mac. rewind 12 hours, and the following was the clerking history.

11.09.09

pc: macbook presented with the inability to start up microsoft word 2008

hx of pc: user (ie. me) stupidly allowed microsoft autoupdate to update my microsoft office 2008, leading to the discovery of a invalid product key. after much cursing and swearing, the user proceeded to slide in the installation disc (see i have the installer on a disc) and waited for repeated failures of the microsoft office to install.
mood = UNHAPPY.
there was associated computer violence, headache and temporary psychosis wrt microsoft.
there was no associated nausea or vomitting, change in bowel habit or freq, chest pain or shrotness of breath. was a bit hyperventilating.

fastforward 12 hours, after ejecting and reinserting the installation disc multiple times, swearing, thinking about comex 2009 alternatives (ie get a legit one) and worrying about my case write up (since i cant technically do anything if my microsoft office doesnt work), by some miracle, my cranky macbook cd reader finally eats up the info and reinstalls microsoft office. im not sure if all is fixed but hopefully it is!

left home at 10 am and went to SGH to find my post-op patient :)
he had an open cholecystectomy done cos he had been febrile for the past few days. and as i was flipping through the case notes, i noticed DUKE-NUS medical student clerking notes in there. sigh, how nice it is to be treated as a fellow in a big hospital and being allowed to clerk inside the notes. i have to say there were mistakes, for eg. the pain being on the right and NOT the left (as was clerked by a student). but that doesnt mean its not cool. its totally ULTRA AWESOME LA! i want to write in clerking notes tooooooo! :(

i managed to get into the electronic clerking system and look at the patient's CT! very awesome! couldnt print out the reports though, i suspect SGH blocked us from printing out reports, so had to hand-copy everything :(

a rather flustered GS HO was writing blue letters while i was copying the case notes, probably thinking "who's this insane medical student coming to hospital on saturday!?" or not. i think he was more bothered by the raised cardiac enzymes on a post op patient. hahaha.

on a happy note! i really like SGH :)
and i think kylie is such a good tutor. he's really amusing and he looks like my cousin.
oh and i got my stitches out (wisdom tooth stitching) and everything is going sweet :)

shall go do my case write up now, even though i have no idea how to complete it :S
